Monday I didn’t help the kids get dressed. They ate breakfast in their PJs and I headed out for an early meeting. When I got home they were both in their current favorite outfits. Let me describe them for you here:
Chase: in his Beep-Beep. This stunning little number is always an efficient choice for those 2 year olds pressed for time. I mean he has things to do. It is a one-piece wonder in a faded navy with a charming appliqued dump truck and the oh so catchy phrase of “Little Construction.” This is what Chase goes for almost every other day and I think he has been known to get Rosie interested in doing some laundry so that he can have a mid-day wardrobe change if he wakes up and this isn’t clean.
Rebecca: In her “Bali Dress”. This is actually a very sweet little dress hand carried back from Bali for Rebecca by one of her favorite Aunts – over a year ago… That is where it gets sticky my friends. Rebecca is a long tall drink of water and with the change of seasons her pants become capris and her dresses become tunics. All is great on the capri front, but it is hard to get a 3 1/2 year old hip to the concept of bloomers or leggings in August in Houston. The other thing that one might notice about Rebecca’s choices is her self styled hair. We counted the hair-bows as they came out: 6 clips and 4 ponytail holders (actually holding mini braids). Finally please note the abundance of marti-gras beads and the purple headband worn as an additional necklace.
I love how they are excited and happy and able to express their individual personalities these days. Fortunately we don’t run in circles where any of the above matters in the least – and really these are some of the things that make me happy when I am photographing. Just catching my favorite people as they are being themselves and happily holding on the their best friends hand while they do it.
