Are you ready for the next holiday?

I am.

I just purchased a valentines card from my favorite letterpress shop Moontree Letterpress out of Brooklyn.  I spent 2010 looking at her work everyday (my desk calendar) and I have some custom business cards.  Moontree’s work is stunning and rich, crisp and ultra tactile.  Swing by and sweeten up your valentines efforts this year.  UPDATE – Moontree was just featured in Martha Stewart for February!  It is great to know that Martha’s team and I think alike on this topic:).  See where she talks about this here.

My boy and his lovely curls

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had amazing holidays and even better I hope that your 2011 is the best year ever. I know that I am laying the foundation for my best year ever. I have lots of projects in the hopper and am working to execute each and every one. Some don’t even have words to describe them much less a quippy sound byte to capture your attention – but the ideas are there germinating away.

Part of what I hope will make 2011 the best year ever is more time with this little delightful creature. Such a snappy little thing. Right now he is working on writing his name. He still loves to cook and cut Feta for me last night to go in the pasta. His eyes sparkle and he has such a way of smiling and is so expressive when he talks. He is really quite quick with his little jokes and stands up for himself like nobodies business. He is fast and physical, but at the same time sensitive and seeks affection and loves to hug and be hugged. Oh and his curls… Enough said.

I am excited to share some of my current projects with you soon!

Danielle - CURLS!! So many CURLS! I love them. Heartbreaker!!!

Winter Train Ride

Yesterday was the first day of winter and here in Houston it was 80 degrees!  Rebecca wore a penquin cordorary dress with hot pink leggings and pink cowboy boots – Chase opted for sweatpants and a t-shirt.  He loves sweatpants these days because they are so much easier to pull up and pull down – very important in high pressure situations.

A few weeks ago the little shopping area near our house hosted a Christmas celebration with a real santa, reindeer, a kids train and a patch of snow.  Nothing compared with what we will be seeing in NY but fun none the less!

Things I should be writing down

We played and played and played over the weekend.  We had such a great time in the big pile of colorful leaves from our backyard.  Throwing leaves, raking leaves, putting leaves in buckets, putting leaves in bags.  Funny how work is not work when you do it for the first time.

In addition to the fun and the mini-breakdowns that just come with the territory – I have so very much enjoyed the things that have been on my kids minds (and spoken from their lips:)) these days. Perhaps some from Chase just to start with:

  •  The other night Chase was getting ready for bed and he and I were talking. He said to me “momma has mucho hair?” I said that I did. Then he said “Daddy has mucho hair?” Yes, yes… “Becca has mucho hair… I have mucho hair.” Yes you do Chase… short pause…. “Grandpa no have mucho hair.” Bless him this is so true on all counts…
  •  Friday morning Chase, Rebecca and I were deciding what shoes to wear. Rebecca picked out her pink cowboy boots. That looked liked a good idea for Chase and me so we did the same. Chase then told me that he had on “Cowboy” boots, Rebecca had on “Cowgirl” and that I had on “Cowmommie” boots!
  •  This year’s Christmas list is very short for Chase.  1) Truck,  2) Machina (some type of heavy equipment),  3) Bucket.

I am sure that there are a dozen other things that “I should be writing down” just from this past weekend alone. But this is a start. Perhaps I will let you know just what is on Rebecca’s mind these days in a coming post.

5 more days people!
